The 28th match of the Vivo IPL 2018 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals began with the sunrisers batting first. Yet again, opener Shikhar Dhawan failed, as Hales and skipper Kane Williamson began damage control and got into a stand.
While Hales departed scoring a patient 45(39), Williamson 63(43b, 7x4,2x6) propelled Sunrisers to a decent score, even as the middle and lower order failed to offer him any support. With Joffa Archer's 3/26 and Gowtham's 2/18, Sunrisers were restricted to 151/7. Entered Rajasthan Royals, who lost opener Tripathi early.
Skipper Rahane and Sanju Samson began the resurrection act, as they began scoring at a rapid pace. While Samson departed scoring 40(30), Rahane 65*(53b,5x4,1x6), despite running out of partners at the other end, held nerves and stood firm. The sunrisers bowling unit as always rose to the occasion, as they contained Rajasthan Royals in the death overs and claimed some quick wickets (Kaul -2/23), ultimately ending their fightback at 140/6, winning by 11 runs.
