The 7th match of VIVO IPL 2018, between Mumbai Indians and Sun Risers Hyderabad, began with the Rohit Sharma lead Mumbai Indians batting first, and the champs faced an early loss, as Stanlake removed Skipper Rohit Sharma with just 11 runs on board. Though Lewis (29), Suryakumar Yadav (28), and Pollard (28) tried to rescue the team with their much-needed cameos, it wasn't adequate.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers never really let the Mumbai Indians gain momentum, as Stanlake, Kaul and Sandeep Sharma kept removing the SRH Batsmen at regular intervals and finally restricted them to 147/8 in 20 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad had a decent start, as  Saha and Shikhar Dhawan began hitting the bowlers well, until Markande struck, removing Wridhiman Saha (22).

Skipper Kane Williamson came in and before even could get settled, was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman, and Markande struck again, to remove the settle Dhawan (45) who was threatening to finish the match early.

With the Sunrisers continuously losing wickets at regular intervals, and Markande, the pick of Mumbai bowlers (4/23) further claimed Manish Pandey and Shakib Al Hasan, leaving Sunrisers reeling at 107/5. However, despite Mustafizur Rahman claiming 3 scalps and Bumrah picking 2 and threatening to rob the victory from SRH who were at a point at 137/9. Stanlake and Deepak Hooda held nerves, and took the match to a thrilling victory for the SRH off the last ball, as they finished 147/9, and Rashid Khan was adjudged player of the match for his tight spell of 4/13 which restricted the Mumbai Indians.
